This is a grass-roots campaign to help families affected by Katrina & Rita (if we can scrape up enough money we'll send a crew to Wilma territory, too).  My best friend just finished a stint volunteering at the national call center for the Red Cross.  She was dumbfounded by the red tape involved in getting aid to families in need and decided to do something about it.  She and a friend jumped in a car and drove to Texas and Louisiana to sign up families for the site.  The site connects visitors to the families’ stories and needs lists, as well as links to gift registries so that visitors can purchase things for the families.
