Updating the Absolute Beginners Guide to Joomla

Post by AmyStephen » Mon Dec 18, 2006 3:03 am

Brad -

I need the author's key to the Absolute Beginners Guide to Joomla updated to my new value so that I can keep it up to date. It is not difficult to change the key value to my new forum id key. If you are willing to do this and just need the SQL, I will get it for you.

I honestly do not care if I am the one to keep it updated. I do care, though, that we maintain it in some fashion. If you prefer the FAQ moderators take it over, that's great. They are doing amazing work there. But, if you want me to maintain it, *please* provide me access. It will not work to "contact someone" every time I want a change - I can't even copy it so that I can make changes and give it back.

I want to add in the new User's 1.0.11 guide - Compass's template tutorial and a link to the bookcase. I want to make certain we are getting ready in some fashion for v. 1.5.

It is helping community members, Brad, and that is what we are all about. It has over 50,000 views. Google this document - check it out in delicious - I found two college courses linking to it. I just don't want it to atrophy, provide outdated information or give them a 404.

In the past, I never bothered you about this silly guide. I just took care of it. Since I left, I can't do that. It's not your fault but without your help I can't do anything. I have to ask for help.

Thanks and keep up the good work! You are not perfect, not even close, but, you are dedicated to us and you take care of things and we wouldn't be here if it weren't for your help. I honestly do appreciate it.

So, what's the plan, boss?  8)

Amy :)

Thanks for your request.

Please can you PM the FAQ mods and request that they make the changes for you. Unfortunately, that is about the best option we have for you.

All the best.

All right, Brad. Longer term, though, let's try to turn it over to your moderators or do something more permanent. You guys think about how you want to do v 1.5 and let me know. I would appreciate it on behalf of those who use it.

For now, I guess I'll ask mcsmom for a copy, change it and give it back to her to publish.

Thanks.
