Bible verse of the day

Hi all,

I am redesigning my churches website in joomla, and I would like to include a bible verse-of-the day on the homepage. I tried the one listed at joomla extensions, but that requires url_fopen to be enabled, which my webhost does not allow.

Does anyone have a verse-of-the-day module/function/something that will work in joomla, without requiring url_fopen?
