Please check at http://www.joomla.org/component/option,com_jd-wp/Itemid,33/p,210/

Backwards compatibility with 1.0

Before we dive into the real stuff let’s talk about backwards compatibility. The new system has been designed to be fully backwards compatible withJoomla! 1.0. If you are installing a Joomla! 1.0 template make sure you turn on the ‘legacy mode’ in the server tab in global configuration. This layer loads all the 1.0 functionality that has been deprecated in 1.5.

However this (the right one):

Your Extension appears to be written for an older version of Joomla!. You must enable the System - Legacy Plugin in the Plugin Manager if you wish to complete this task.

Well spotted Moises, thanks  ;)

I'll move the post to the S&I forum so they can pick this up.

Blog post are not the same as documentation, they provide a snapshot in time and when reviewed later can contain wrong information. There have been different reports about typo's and information in blog posts that isn't valid any longer. While this is feedback is appreciated I hope you can understand that we don't have the time to keep all our blog posts up to date. If you are looking for up to date information I suggest you use the developer documentation resources which should provide you with the best and most update source of information.

Cheers,

Johan

I perfectly understand your point, but the lead to this information was to cross-check procedural instructions from the user point of view. Happen that this blog post is the first result Google list on the keyword 'joomla legacy mode' (http://www.google.com/search?q=joomla+legacy+mode&hl=en) from the location I am actually logged on to the Internet.

In fact, legally talking, a post like this shouldn't be changed over time because of regulatory compliance in some countries because of historic documentation.

Maybe, a good idea IMHO from the Knowledge Management perspective, is to add at the bottom of each post -given the nature of Joomla! blogs posts- an automatic and brief paragraph, very similar to the notice usually added at the end of corporation's and governments press releases, indicating the nature of the information and that this info may change over time, so pointing to an always updated general resource somewhere.

Exempli gratia:
This press release contains forward-looking statements that are subject to risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially from those set forth herein, including the risks and uncertainties discussed...

This is precisely what it states to be and that is a BLOG!

Official press releases are made on the Main Page or the News Page or are you now suggesting that Developers or anyone connected with Work Groups reviews every single one of their forum posts as well in case it holds some individual error that has arisen because of a lapse of time...

There are far more important things for the Devs and WG members to be doing.
