Forum and Extensions Site down

Post by brad » Wed Sep 19, 2007 8:48 pm

Sometime between: this time and this time the server that hosts the forum and extensions site will be down for about 30min while it is moved. The total outage may be longer, if any issues come up.

Thanks for your patience.

This maintenance has been completed as scheduled :)

We will also be making another change by the end of this week so that things will be setup as follows -

Joomla Box 1 - Main website, news site, help site, developer site and shop site

Joomla Box 2 - Extensions

Joomla Box 3 - Forums

Joomla Code Box 1 - Front-end of Joomla Code

Joomla Code Box 2 - Back-end of Joomla Code linked over Private LAN with Front-End

Joomla Internal Box 1 - We are also likely going to be providing co-location services for an Apple XServe internal development box too. This still has to be finalized though.

.... giving a grand total of six servers :)

Currently the Extensions and Forums are both on the secondary box, which is what was moved here. Up and onwards for Joomla...!! :D

Thanks for your understanding during this maintenance :)

I can only agree. It's really good that forum and extensions directory get their own separate servers since both are very important for the community and we reduce significantly the risk that we get an outage on both at the same time.  :)

... and the server split discussed above is complete. The forum is now on a brand new box and the extensions site has the previous secondary box all to itself now.

Thank you for your patience :)

I've still got to fix the forum search function, but apart from that, things are looking good.
