Hello guys!
My name is Richard Ortega. I am new to the forums here, but not new to Joomla or open source. I want to get the right people together to organize a Joomla!Day event in San Antonio, TX. To be honest, I believe its lacking here; maybe because I am little jealous of Austin's Joomla!Day by Chris Justice. j/k, way to go Chris Justice, good job!
Also, I have a venue where we can create a monthly Joomla/Open Source gathering. The venue is a very nice lounge with a very nice bar. I think we need a good open source mixer in this area. I am unaware of how many people would even care though.
So if you think I should get it going, or if you think we can obtain a big convention downtown, let me know and lets gets started. I feel this is hopefully my way of giving back to the community. I really want to help out non-profits and educational institutions with the use of open source.
Best Regards,
Richard Ortega

Dear Richard,
We had already a Joomla!Day in Austin Texas this year. As your Joomla!Day charter says that we only allow one regional event to be approved I can't approve your reqeust atm.
I suggest you get in touch with Chris Justice (aka MegaJustice) who is the responsible person for USA / South events atm. I think he will be happy to get some support for 2008. More information about past event can be found here: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,173605.0.html
Cheers
Alex

I am sorry about cross-posting, was not my intention, but to be honest some of the boards had posts from 3-5 months back. Just didn't want to post something no one would read.
Thanks,
Richard Ortega
