Maintenance Scope: The servers hosting the official Joomla websites and Joomla Code have had their kernels updated to the latest release. In order for the new kernel to initialize each server must be rebooted. The kernel is an essential part of the Operating System (OS), like a 'virtual heart', responsible for resource allocation, hardware interfaces, security etc.
Maintenance Impact: You should not notice more than 5 - 10 minutes of downtime for each Joomla site during the above window while the system reboots unless the server requires to run a File System Check (FSCK) on boot up. This will impact all Joomla sites including the main, news, help, extensions, forum, developer and shop websites as well as the Joomla Code forge.
