Social One embraces a compound group of sociologists, social workers and sociology students who, for a number of years, have been committed to study, reflect and engage in a dynamic dialogue wherein reciprocal understanding facilitates and builds intellectual and spiritual integration. Social one is formed of an international secretariat and throughout the five continents small groups of study and reflection are also gradually being formed. These groups form an international network whose aim is to seek new perspectives in sociological theories (looking for new conceptual categories) as well as new operational methods in the life of today’s society.
Objective
Social One’s objective is that of extracting ideas, orientations and cues for research, so as to be able to interpret the status of today’s society and propose ways of intervention in the social field, while drawing from the spiritual and cultural legacy of the charism of unity that gives life to the Focolare Movement. This work is revealing new perspectives that are providing an original contribution to the content and methods of thinking, analysis, understanding and operating in the social ambit.
International Congresses
These proposals have been the subject of three international Congresses that took place in 2002, 2003 and 2005. The first was entitled “Social Relationships”, and the second one dealt with “Conflicts in Social Relationships”. The convention held in 2005, which attracted the largest and most international participation with respect to the previous congresses, was about the theme: “Social Relationships and Fraternity: Paradox or sustainable model? A Social Sciences’ Perspective”.
Initiatives
Social One organises congresses, scientific working groups, forums, seminars and in future will be offering the publication of articles and essays.
