Allowing users frontend publishing of their own content?

Post by gone7 » Tue Feb 26, 2008 5:39 pm

Hi all,

I would like to grant only certain members of my website the ability to publish/unpublish their own content from the frontend if they should choose to.

I'm using "My Content" which displays the publish/unpublish icon but it's only effective if the user is at "Publisher" status. So, when I place the user at "Publisher" status the new problem is that they are also given the ability to access and edit anyone elses content...which I definately don't want!

I would really like to simply set them as "Publisher" so they can publish/unpublish, but only have editing access to their own content. This seems like it should be a fairly simple fix. Anyone have the answer? ???

Using Joomla! version 1.0.10

Thanks in advance!

I've been thinking...

Here's an approach: What if I could remove the edit icon from appearing on all of the posted content in the frontend? I'm hoping that because I'm using the "My Content" component that users can still access and edit their content from there. Then, if I change a members status to "Publisher" he/she can edit, publish/unpublish their own content only, while going through "My Content."

Okay...so how do I remove the edit icon from the posted content items but allow it to show up in MY Content?
