1.0.8 Release Announcement - Corrections

Post by damo » Sun Feb 26, 2006 12:56 pm

it says here:
http://www.joomla.org/content/view/940/74/
under upgrade instructions
Upgrading from any version of Joomla! 1.0.x to 1.0.8, simply involves overwriting your current sites files, with the files in the proper Patch Package that applies to your site.  So if you are running Joomla! 1.0.5, you will need the 1.0.5 to 1.0.7 Patch Package.

does that mean you've got to patch up to 1.0.7 before patching to 1.0.8?

The release notice says:

    * 37 Security Fixes
    * 70+ General bug fixes
    * Several Performance enhancements

and also:
...Patch Packages which contain only the files that have been changed by the Security & Bug Fix work conducted.

I read this as saying that the patch package does not contain the performance enhancements. Is this correct?

I have rewritten it to make more sense.

All files changed by the Stability work are found in the Patch Packages.
Security, General Bug fixes and the performance improvements.

Hi Rey,

On this page: http://www.joomla.org/content/view/940/74/1/2/
Page 3 of the full announcement there is a link labelled
Download `Joomla! Security Audit - A2 Broken Access Control [26 Feb 2006]`

which links to: http://forge.joomla.org/sf/go/doc1518?nav=1
and the text
3rd Party addon developers Must read the report to ensure they institute internal testing of their products, to ensure a similar vulnerability does not exist within their applications.

As someone who has knocked out the odd component I am obviously interested in reading more but the link generates the following error on the forge:

The page you requested cannot be found.
If you feel you have received this message in error, please contact the SourceForge administrator.

Can you give us a pointer to the item in question?

On the mainpage on the left side, the last stable release button still states Joomla 1.0.7

You need to clear your browser cache - FF 1.5 is much more robust in its caching
