Traffic and Alexa rank shoots up this month

Not sure why but the Alexa ranks have really shot up this month

So who knows. Maybe they are using a different calculation algorithmn.

very wierd.

Perhaps as Alexa is calculated based on people having their toolbar installed there has just been a big increase in the number of users.

Maybe, scrapers collecting for commercial exploitation?

The various Joomla sites did just under 14 million page views last month and many many more hits than that. We will be getting full stats for last month and this month over to Peter at the start of May for further review

of course if there was an apache logs component for joomla it would all be so muh easier for us all to see

You may be interested to know that for some reason awstats and webalizer seem to count avatars that are accessed though index.php such as http://forum.joomla.org/index.php?actio ... ype=avatar as seperate page views rather than just hits even when being requested from a topic page.

That *was* a kinda random comment.

Anyway, I read somewhere that Alexa is prone to spikes every now and again. Trouble is I cant remember why it was or where I saw it

If it's not been discussed earlier, I apologise ... but I see that the old Alexa Google relationship has been replaced by a Alexa MSN search engine results now.

Perhaps this is the clue we've been looking for.
