joomla.org Name Recommendation

Post by AmyStephen » Sun Apr 30, 2006 6:04 am

The names of the various sub-sites have bothered me for awhile. I think I finally understand what is confusing to me and wanted to share my recommendations.

  • 1. forum.joomla.org
  • 2. extensions.joomla.org

I recommend we add the plural for #1 and singular for #2 to the DNS to resolve to the names above. It is confusing to have one singular and one plural.

  • 3. dev.joomla.org

I recommend developer.joomla.org resolve to dev.joomla.org, instead of Source Forge, and that we add the plural < developers.joomla.org > to the DNS, as well. < Keep dev.joomla.org for backward compatiability, but I'd rather see developers.joomla.org be primary >

The buttons say "Forums", "Extensions" and "Developers" and it would be nice if the names followed for consistency sake.

Thanks!
Amy

1. The correct link should be 'forum', however when we added a new site that was something we forgot to fix up.
2. I really think 'Extensions' describes it well.
3. Eventually dev and developer will point to the 'dev' site. We have chosen to have dev as primary.

All of these minor changes are on my to do list. Thanks for your opinion/suggestion though.

Yes, these are minor things. And, your welcome for my opinions, not a problem. When I finally realized what was inconsistent -- I went ahead and documented it for the year 2010 when things settle down and someone has time!  ;)
