Thanks, Brad. This was annoying at first. Although I enjoy the spirit of open-source, I sure will miss the old VBulletin forum. I'll take up a collection if anyone wants to chip in...lol.

Once we get a name to call ours CMS and everything is said and done I will donate a licence to the community.

I'm not sure going to vBulletin is really necessary. I think SMF is as strong as vBulletin, albeit a little different in how you do things. You'll quickly get used to it.

Yes, I quite like this board. It is certainly full-featured.
Re: Topic Replies containing the post.
What's wrong with SMF? It's good, free and... well, not exactly open source.
Re: Topic Replies containing the post.
I certinaly have nothing against it! It is kind of a nice change of scenery. LOL

Re: Topic Replies containing the post.
I was just discussing this very thing in our local PHP user group meeting tonight. I've used a lot of different forum software over the years and had finally settled on phpBB being the most intuitive and easy to use. I was amazed at how easy it was to operate and navigate. Then I started using the Mambo forum a lot and was almost instantly blown away by how easy it is to operate. I beg that it be at least considered to use VBulletin here unless there is serious opposition. As I've said elsewhere, I will also sob a little sob if we lose that amazing content on the existing forums. Hopefully things can be resolved with these type of details.

gsbe, play with SMF and you will quickly see how good, easy to use, and intuitive it is. Fairly easy to skin as well
Now *that* bothers me. Us losing this content, but Miro potentially using our posts in paid-for help documentation they might produce...

Yeah.. the cost of vbulletin is not the reason we are not using it... may may move to vb if needed in the future...
..and think of me.. even harder for me to get used to..

I was going to mention that administrating VBulletin was also supposed to be really easy for your sake, Brad! I sure hope we can salvage those posts. Those forums are the biggest thing the project has going, IMHO. They embody the community. If the docs are the "printed word" the old forum was the "living word". I hope the power and simplicity of the code proves me wrong. lol!

Re: Topic Replies containing the post.
I think we have nothing to worry about. There are lots of us that have been using it for over a year now and can do and fix just about anything. For the first month or so we are going to have alot of work to do getting some forum posts answered and all so we can start yelling at people to use the "Search" feature but it will be worth it in the end.

Re: Topic Replies containing the post.
Hi,
Glad to see this new site popping up.
I'm loving the new SMF - we're also setting up SMF/Mambo forums and it's good to see this site also using it. I am particularly eager these days because of the work being done to produce a cm2f package for SMF, enabling seamless participation in SMF forums via email. Now *that* is important to me.
Where does mambers.com fit into all this? I would prefer to have one forum to go to for tech questions, really. It's been confusing enough already.
Cheers,
Tobias

Now that would be an interesting outcome of all of this...rush a production version of bi-directional forum/email communication from SMF. Are they still into it? I'd imagine that they're pretty pumped about being used as the main forum software for the new project.

Re: Topic Replies containing the post.
I could go higher in resolution, but the monitor is too far away and 1024x768 would cause too much eye strain.
