Re: Extensions - keeping current - how?

Hi I'm using Joomla with maybe 6 or 7 extensions installed. Only one extensions has "announcement" type mailing list that informs about new releases... How do I keep current with other extensions? In Joomla Extensions Directory there is version information about every extension, but there is no way...

Re: Penalising Extensions With Hidding Advertising

I'd recommend making Joomlacredits optional in the same way that linking to Joomla is optional. However, given Joomla's huge reach, even if 5% of people use it, thats a flood of 10,000s of genuine links for developers. Certainly...I was just making the point that if your talking about "penalizing" ...

Re: Penalising Extensions With Hidding Advertising

Thanks Lorenzo I understand that developers want something back for their efforts, but its good if we work towards providing them with clear, open links (for example, from JoomlaCredits) and don't accept invisible links. Do we penalize sites who don't publish their Joomla credits?  Perhaps sit...

Re: How to start a Joomla! User's Group in a City Near You!

I find the Guidelines to be very clear. I hear you repeating what the guidelines state, so I don't believe there is any confusion. I also hear you saying you don't like the guidelines, but unfortunately, we won't always agree on how to do something. It's a mighty large, international community. We'...

Re: How to start a Joomla! User's Group in a City Near You!

I would not recommend you change someone else's creation, given copyright issues. However, it would make sense to provide feedback to these artistic designers. Point out for them the Joomla! Logo Guidelines and Brand Manual . Point out specific issues a submitted logo might have. Recommend changes ...

Re: How to start a Joomla! User's Group in a City Near You!

The Logo Guidelines were published a couple of years ago and that is what the community is going with. Joomla! has an exclamation point as part of its name. Another one of those things, it's just the way it is! Hope that helps! Amy Kind of like certain coffee shops calling large coffee something el...

Re: How to start a Joomla! User's Group in a City Near You!

I agree. The last two are clearly violating the Joomla! Logo Guidelines. I figure it is the Joomla teams call on whether or not to let us use it.  A strict reading of the logo and name rules leads me to conclude that I can't use the name or logo at all unless I use it by itself without any reg...

Re: How to start a Joomla! User's Group in a City Near You!

Hi there, I figured I'd post here since the topic came up for discussion, and other than the usual point to the, imho, useless entrees on Joomla Logo usage(basically, if I read them directly the only way I can see to use a Joomla logo is to completely have ZERO local user group identity whatsoever a...

Would anyone be interested in a Joomla EC2 image? I was thinking of taking the Drupal EC2 image and replacing it with Joomla 1.0.12 and 1.5 Any thoughts on some must have components to install on it? (for those of you unaware, EC2 will let you run a complete virual host for 10 cents/hour plus std Am...

Logo Usage

A free weeks back I submitted the logo usage form, but it had a lot of errors(apparently you can't actually upload the logo as the form says you can) and I have yet to hear back from anyone. Can someone let me know who to contact to clear usage of the Joomla Logo? Our local user group had some excel...

~Hi there. I have recently made an 80% switch from WinXP to Ubuntu Linux 7.10. I've been using the usual Macromedia/Adobe development tools for years, including Dreamweaver. I like Komodo Edit(free) or their full blown IDE(commercial). It does code folding automatically, supports the PHP debugger, ...

JUG Sponsors

So, as I organize the NYC JUG, I noticed a couple other local groups had discounts for members at various bookstores. So I dived in and checked out a few publishers: OReilly User Group Support They give you 35% discount for members They will send you books on request to place in the JUG library, all...

Re: How to start a Joomla! User's Group in a City Near You!

Having local UG's for support is redundant and unnecessary IMO. If there was no use for support in a face to face manner, there would be no use for hack rooms at Joomla day.  We could just do it all online. For many, they thrive in an online community, and 6 people across the world can have a ...

Since moving to NYC, I've discovered the ultimate tool for the non-NYC native. HopStop m It's like mapquest, but for public transportation. Counting down to the meeting, we currently have around 30 people RSVP'd so we can accept another dozen or so.

For this month only, you can RSVP by emailing me at [email protected] (I'll be deleting that address in a week or so as it's already getting spam... heh)

For the curious, I have 21 RSVP's(counting myself).

So we still have room for around 19 more people without cramming, and an additional 10 or so if we drag some chairs in from other offices.
