Mr Landry, I expect you to be there, it has been too long
Considering you skipped the London meetup and I will miss the Netherlands gathering. So a perfect excuse to come to Vancouver, chat Joomla and hang out and have a few beers with me. What could be more exciting
I am pleased to say that Team Rochen is all booked up to be in Vancouver. Going to be three of us coming along. Wendy, I think Brad is going to contact you sometime soon (if he has not already) to see what support we can offer for the event in terms of sponsorship etc. Also, we are most likely going...
I am not sure I really understand what you are getting at but let me try and address the matter of there being two versions and possibly three in the future. Version 1.5.x has only just been released as a stable build and as you pointed out there are many changes from 1.1.x. As a result Joomla can't...
Thanks Elin! :) What makes this even more interesting is that Joomla is running the world's largest deployment of the system that powers the forge. Therefore, most of the issues that come up have never been faced before or seen by the developers of the system before. It would be great if we could ju...
We would love nothing more than for Joomla to migrate away from the unstable system that powers Joomla Code. The problem does not lie with the servers or the hosting but with the system itself. Unfortunately, there are no other solutions available that are viable in terms of cost etc. In the meantim...
Hi Wendy, Drop me a PM with your Skype, MSN or whatever IM program you use and we can talk :) I think Brad has already spoken to you briefly. Now that the Vancouver event is on June 14th we can throw our full support behind it and will do whatever we can to help. I think Brad, myself and some others...
Maintenance Window: This window will run 2300 - 0700 GMT / UTC on Thursday, December 27th 2007 Time Zone Conversion? Maintenance Scope: The servers hosting the official Joomla websites and Joomla Code have had their kernels updated to the latest release. In order for the new kernel to initialize ea...
You either have irregular / heavy MySQL queries being run there (perhaps via a third party Joomla component?) or your hosting provider's MySQL service is overloaded or not properly tuned. I would perhaps contact them and see if they can offer any advice. Delivering high performance hosting for dynam...
Actually, you can get this type of speed on any decent shared plan, providing your site isn't pushing massive amounts of traffic. Joomla just needs the server setup it has due to the traffic volume.
The servers on this end shouldn't be blocking you. It looks like there is a policy rule on the proxy or gateway server in your office preventing you from downloading the file. I would perhaps advise contacting your company's IT department to see if they can advise you further. If you don't have any ...
... and the server split discussed above is complete. The forum is now on a brand new box and the extensions site has the previous secondary box all to itself now.
This maintenance has been completed as scheduled We will also be making another change by the end of this week so that things will be setup as follows - Joomla Box 1 - Main website, news site, help site, developer site and shop site Joomla Box 2 - Extensions Joomla Box 3 - Forums Joomla Code Box 1 -...
It is mostly down to how we have the servers configured and tuned. We run the main Joomla sites off two servers, soon to be three with the third already online, and then another two boxes for the Joomla Code site with a backend network between them. If we didn't have all of the servers so well tuned...
As Louis says it has been a long day but I am glad the problem has been tracked down and isolated. I think we are lucky that the particular component that was exploited is only used on the Joomla shop site and not by the community at large or this could be a much more serious problem. You will see t...
This maintenance was completed as of a few minutes ago. We are now running 8GB of RAM on the primary Joomla Code server and 4GB on the secondary. These servers are used solely to host the Joomla Code site and none of the other Joomla sites. E.g. Forums, Extensions etc. Thanks for your understanding ...
Hi Andy, It is due to a huge volume of traffic (1,000+ concurrent Apache sessions) hitting the "Open Source Does Matter" article. Most of it is coming from Digg. We are working to balance the traffic load as best we can. The forum and extensions sites are on a separate server so they should be okay....
Hi Brian, Perhaps I misunderstood but when I spoke to Ryan I got the impression it was open to anyone but simply targeted towards those on the West Coast and the idea of hosting multiple events across the United States was simply to cut down travel time for people, if they wanted. I didn't however g...
Yes, I think this will be a great event and it will be good to see everyone who can attend. Ryan has this all really well organized from what I have seen and heard so it would certainly be a worthwhile event to consider attending!
There are a few quirks with the new forge which are still being troubleshooted with the team at G-Forge, who have been a great help. I believe this is one of the largest, if not *the* largest, deployment of G-Forge ever done so it was to be expected.
Thank to Tonie for making that blog post to help keep people in the loop as to the situation. We have been working for the past few hours to get this restored. Swapping the drive didn't take long as we keep cold spares of every component on-site - what took the time was reloading the Operating Syste...
The new forge cluster is humming along very well and has gone a lot smoother than we expected. We expected there to be a lot more 'bugs' that needed to be resolved on launch. So far so good and a big well done to everyone involved! Joomla Code Server 1: 15:27:00 up 29 days, 22:43, load average: 0.42...
Yes, but does this 'pimped ride' run Linux? Yes, we are running the latest build of CentOS Enterprise Linux in 64-Bit mode We have found CentOS to be the best distro and have standardized on this across our fleet. It gives us more flexibility and cost savings than a straight RHEL install but we don...
A lot of man hours have been put into designing the backend infrastructure for the new Forge making current robustness and future scalability our primary concerns. What I am most impressed with though is what Andy has done with the new theme - it really does look great. Okay I am teasing now... but ...
Maintenance Window: 0900 - 1300 GMT / UTC - Sunday, March 11th 2007 [ Time Zone Conversion? ] Maintenance Scope: We will be taking the server hosting the Forum and Extensions sites offline in order to upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 6GB in order to meet future growth. The Forum and Extensions sites cur...
