You are right. The core team has no obligation to warn anyone of changes to the site or their philosophy. They are very busy getting ready for the expo's and have much on their mind. But, it takes about 3 minutes to post an Official Announcement "Hey, we are going to try Google Ads because...".
That's not a huge deal, so, don't worry too much about it. Just a reminder that communication does build involvement and support. And, that's what we are after, some $$$ support!
Thanks for your comments! (And, don't forget to donate some dough!)

Amy,
Thank you for your kind response to my specific post. I was a little concerned that others may respond with anger. I believe that you meant your post to be taken with friendly intent and that was my reception. That being said...
No one should have to justify their comments by way of a donation, but seeing as how this is a hot topic and emotionally charged I would like to clarify that I have made a donation. It was a decent amount, I am a student, and I do not make any money from Joomla based sites though I did begin using Adsense in February with the hope of recouping some of my server and domain name costs.
This does not affect the issue at hand, which is that ads cost nothing to display and any revenue they generate is all bonus. If it could be demonstrated that such ads keep people away from Joomla, then we would have a debate. It is highly unlikely that is the case.
