deebee wrote:Joomla - Express Yourself

I believe this is what it does - let's non-techie user (like me!) express themselves.

As as dyed in the wool marketeer, my one piece of advice would be steer away from what it is, and focus on what it does...benefits not features etc.

as another professional marketer i concur!
id go even one step further and express the benefit as opposed to describe it in the slogan. get the emotion relation and identity in there. the ..."ahhh this is easy, why haven't i found this before now" kinda vibe.

At http://forum.opensourcematters.org/inde ... 199.0.html brads says that the marketing survey has now been completed.

So what are the results?
I think it is important to publish them to put some order in the process of choosing the new slogan, which is becoming sort of a mess.  ???

I imagine it will take some time to even just prepare the results for publication, much less make any kind of significant analysis.

Joomla!... Making a Statement! (to signfy that Joomla! enables users to make a statement with their sites)
Joomla!... Make your Statement! (to signify that the statement is up to the user.. Joomla! enables/empowers you to make it)

A "new" or old idea: first a new logo, and after, olny after that a new slogan, if strictly needed... Who agree with me?!

All right, but the matter is that until then we won't have any rules as there are for the new logo and there were for the new name anouncements.
The only similar thing I've found is in http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,4203.0.html :

Tips - By coscooper in the OSM forum

    * Who's the logo/slogan for? Your group and the core dev environment vs the customer (End users who deploy your solution).
    * Logo/slogan must convey purpose and spell out your message & be distinguishable (Kind of like your name.

Do you feel this can be taken as general orientations on how to propose a new slogan?  ???
If you don't know where you want to go, you will get nowhere. And that's what is happening in this thread.  :(

First I like the ideea of 2 hands shake (logo) and could be great with one of this:

"Joomla - Your Friendly CMS!"
"Joomla - Close to YOU!" (sounds like a  melody I like very much)
"Joomla - Next Generation CMS"
"Joomla - Look into the Future"

Respekt, ateul

Okay, here's an attempt at shortening that a bit:

The two objects interact with each other in a dynamic, fluid and free interplay, much like a dynamic community like Joomla! does.  This interactivity can also be seen as that of core developers and the rest of the community - together but free, a relationship always allowing for growth and dynamicism. The perfect symbiosis.

The slogan 'Your CMS' works on a number of levels:

- It expresses the developers commitment to the community.

- It provides 'ownership', responsibility, and a sense of individual freedom to the community.

- And lastly, and perhaps more importantly in a corporate sense, it provides reassurance and a sense of intimacy to a newcomer by communicating 'you have come to the right place, this IS your CMS'.

That slogan is a winner!  Short, simple and very effective.  Good work!!

And i took the liberty of tweaking your work a little.  Nice work ;)
