Re: Search not working on this website?
i (...) was told that the search for the forum AND the website didn't really work... and that it was better to use google than use the websites own search facilities. I think there's been a bit of miscommunication here. I am not aware of any problems with the Joomla!-search function. Apart from the...

Re: Search not working on this website?
Lots of people use Google to search the forum.
Type something like this:
searchterm site:forum.joomla.org
I've been told this works better then the SMF-search

Benedikt

Re: Advertisement - Tell me it ain't so!
I'm not too fond of the ads too, but I'm glad that there now is a simple way for a poor student like me to contribute a little money. I mean, it's not that annoying to click on a few ads and let them load in the backgound in another tab of my browser. (I don't really have to browse those sites to cr...

Re: Registering (forum & ext) twice on joomla.org??
This is by no means an 'official' answer, but here's what I guess is the reason: The forum is powered by SMF (see footer) and is not bridged with the other official Joomla sites. There are probably very good reasons to do this. The fist one that comes to mind is that it is unlikely that all 27667 us...

Re: Developer Zone Forum Question?
In the root of the developper forum there is indeed no 'new topic' button. When you go to a subforum, for example Joomla 1.0.x Dev, the button is there. If this is intended so, I can appreciate the logic behind that. I just don't understand how those posts in the root of the developper forum got the...

To get the actual stuff we have to undertake another human search through the whole page which are sometimes outrageously large I think you can avoid this. In the search results you can also click on the title of post that contains your search term. That way you don't have to search the whole tread...

1.1 is still alpha. This means that you can NOT use it on a live site. It is released for the purpose of testing only.
1.0.7 is stable and safe to use on a live site.

This is a known bug that's already been fixed in the SVN for the upcoming 1.0.5 release.
It can be solved by turning of the cache.

Re: Discuss about : Upgrade to Joomla! 1.0.4 Security Release now!
Upgrading is indeed only a matter of overwriting your installation with the patch. This will only overwrite the files that need to be replaced. It is however wise to make a backup first, that way you can always restore the old version. Also make sure that you're applying the right patch (1.0.3 to 1....

Thanks for the upgrade. I have one (very) little remark, though. On the main Joomla site, the download button still says 1.0.3. I guess there hasn't been time yet to change this since 1.0.4 is only 4 hours old. But the 1.0.3-button looks a bit silly next to the article about 1.0.4 Keep up the ...

A little off-topic maybe, but it's probably relevant. This brings up an old topic that came up the core Mambo team a couple of years back... Is it better to let 3rd party sites deal with all the CMM's, or is it better for the core group to maintain the 'official' repository. ... But something in my ...
